Home Education Youth Group
Our youth group for home educated tweens and teens. This group is aimed at ages 11+.
November 26th - Silly Beetle Drive . This is a really fun game to play as a group. Each participant needs to bring three small ‘presents’ that are wrapped up. These could be anything and don’t need to be bought new (though nothing horrible please!). Throughout the game children will swap presents and end up with different ones to those that they brought. Please note - some children will end up with more than three presents and some less, but we will make sure that no one leaves empty handed.
We will be asking everyone to help with tidy up for the last ten minutes.
This group will usually be £5 per person but may change occasionally depending on the activity offered.

You will learn to use a blow torch to fire the clay and where needed you will learn to solder silver studs and/or jump rings. They will all then be tumbled to make them nice and shiny! Create a plaque using a mixture of mediums such as acrylic paints and paint pens. We will have range of affirmation (and some funny sayings!) stencils ready or we can cut your choice of words - either send them to us in advance, or we can cut them on the cricut at the start of the workshop.

Fimo Jewellery
In this fimo workshop we will be working with diffferent types of fimo including fimo soft, translucent and metallic/glitter. We will mix colours and translucent clay together with metallic leaf and mica powders to create beautiful slabs that can then be cut using our wide range of cutters to make jewellery, keyrings and more.
Your fimo pieces will be cooked over the following week ready for you to collect. You may want to book a UV resin workshop or drop in slot to add UV resin on to your pieces once they are cooked.

Bronze Arts Award with Artivity
Complete the Bronze Arts Award level with Ellie from Artivity. This course spans over 4 half terms and you must commit to completing the whole course which will be paid for each half term. This half term is for 7 weeks on each Thursday from the first session on 31st October to the last session on 12th December.
The sessions cost £14.50 per week plus a moderation fee of £27 which will be added to the third half term.

November 26th - Silly Beetle Drive . This is a really fun game to play as a group. Each participant needs to bring three small ‘presents’ that are wrapped up. These could be anything and don’t need to be bought new (though nothing horrible please!). Throughout the game children will swap presents and end up with different ones to those that they brought. Please note - some children will end up with more than three presents and some less, but we will make sure that no one leaves empty handed.
We will be asking everyone to help with tidy up for the last ten minutes.
This group will usually be £5 per person but may change occasionally depending on the activity offered.
Home Education Day - Tuesday
This is a seven week block starting on 29th October.
9:30am - 10:15am - Maths GCSE
In this group we work through the GCSE syllabus on a two year rolling schedule. The lessons will be differentiated so that those that are considering taking the higher GCSE will cover the content for that while others can concentrate on the foundation syllabus. Homework will be set most weeks. This session is with Katie.
10:15am - 11am - Maths KS3
In this session we cover the KS3 mathematics syllabus on a two year rolling schedule. the aim is to prepare students for the maths GCSE course. Katie will be happy to advise when students are ready to move up to the GCSE syllabus. Homework will be set most weeks. This session is with Katie.
11am - 11:45am - Spanish with Eva
These Spanish sessions with Eva are lots of fun, with learning taking place in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. If we have enough children we will run a beginners session 10:15/10:30 - 11.
11:45am - 12:30pm - English
KS3 with Katie
This group is aimed at children ages 11+ and will be covering a range of KS3 English topics. This term we will be looking at Skellig and students will need a copy of the book (paper copy or kindle) as they will be set homework including reading forwards in the book.
Creative English with Charlotte
In this group children aged 7 - 11 will look at different children’s stories, poems and books each week and complete a variety of activities inspired by the texts. This is a fun session which encourages children’s imaginations and love of literature. This session is with Charlotte.
1pm - 2pm - Home Ed Magazine Group with Katie
This is a relaxed session where children of all ages will work together to create their own home ed magazine. Children can take turns being editor and decide between them what they want their magazine to include. We will be aiming to print at least one edition each half term.
2pm - 2:45pm - Performing Arts
For children of all ages, this is a fun session that will include drama, song and dance in relaxed and inclusive activities for all abilities. This session is with Katie.
3pm - 4pm - Art
For art we are splitting in to two groups. Please book by choosing the group your child would like to mostly be in. There may be times, for example when one group is finishing a project, when we move children about for an odd session. Also if it becomes apparent that a child isn’t in the appropriate group we reserve the right to swap them over, and will let you know if this is the case.
Art 1 - Art with Lisa, looking in depth at different techniques and medium to create detailed pieces of art - great for older children who want to improve their art skills and perhaps prepare for further art study.
Art 2 - Art with Katie, working on a different project or with a different medium each week, sometimes looking at different artists and taking inspiration from various sources. Great for those who want to create projects using inspiration and their imagination.
Lunch
There is time for lunch 12:30pm to 1pm. Children taking part in the magazine group are welcome to finish their lunch in the session if they need to. Please ask your children to tidy all their lunch things away and pick up any dropped food etc.

If you currently receive benefits and will struggle to afford for your child to take part in the groups please get in touch as we are able to offer a discounted place.
If you haven’t been to groups at The Place Stamford before and would like to come for a trial session before booking please get in touch. We are not usually able to refund sessions missed.
Children are welcome to stay between sessions and play in our rooms - we have a wide selection of games and toys, or of course they are welcome to bring their own activities. You are usually welcome to leave children with us during their lessons so long as you remain contactable - we will ask you to come in or to stay if your child needs you, or you are welcome to stay onsite with your child. For children younger than 11 we ask that you are on site with your child between lessons and take responsibility for ensuring that your child gets to their lessons, (unless by prior agreement). We have a very busy day with lots of families taking part so the teachers and shop staff are not able to take responsibility for other children. We also ask that you ensure your child clears up after themselves before they leave.
For new families we have a guidance and expectations sheet that we will ask you and your child to agree to when you first join us.

Use clay, frames, cutters, flowers grasses and leaves to create a template and mold. We will then make up plaster of paris to pour on to our molds and create beautiful plaster flower arrangements.
All equipment is provided though you are welcome to bring along anything that you would like to use in your art.
This workshop is suitable for adults and children ages 12+. A hot drink and biscuits included!

Silver Jewellery Workshop - Ring and Silver Clay Topper
Join Caroline from Silver Lincs Designs and our own team to create your own stunning silver jewellery. You will be using silver clay to create a topper for a ring, measure, shape, solder and texture your own ring and then attach your topper. Your ring will then be tumbled to make it nice and shiny! You can stay for this part or collect it at a later date.
All materials and tuition is included. As there are hazardous tools using such as saws and blow torches this workshop is recommended for adults, however responsible young adults ages 16 and 17 can also take part with a parent - both parent and child will need tickets.
Resin Workshop

Card Making Club
Join us to make greeting cards perfect for birthdays, Christmas and any other occasion! Each week we will have a different project such as stamping, embossing, paper cutting, quilling and watercolour with all materials included. This card making club is open to adults and children ages approx 10+.
When numbers allow it will take place in our shop downstairs, or if it’s a large group we will move upstairs to our events room or workshop. Price includes a hot drink or squash.
Little Crafters
Little Crafters at The Place Stamford
This group has been created for children ages approx 1-5 to come and enjoy creative craft and play activities and for parents to socialise, make friends and enjoy a cuppa!
Each week we will have different creative activities for children to explore, with a different theme each week. This will take place in our events room with the snug open for play.
During the morning we will bring hot drinks for parents, and at approx 11am provide squash, water and biscuits for everyone. This is included in your entry price.
