General info

If you are booking for more than one child then we are able to offer you a 5% discount. Use code Homeedtues2+ at checkout for this (you will need to book each session separately). If you currently receive benefits and will struggle to afford for your child to take part in the groups please get in touch as we are able to offer a discounted place.

If you haven’t been to groups at The Place Stamford before and would like to come for a trial session before booking please get in touch. We are not usually able to refund sessions missed.

You are usually welcome to leave children with us during their lessons so long as you remain contactable - we will ask you to come in or to stay if your child needs you, or you are welcome to stay onsite with your child. For children younger than 11 we ask that you are on site with your child between lessons and take responsibility for ensuring that your child gets to their lessons, (unless by prior agreement). We have a very busy day with lots of families taking part so the teachers and shop staff are not able to take responsibility for other children. We also ask that you ensure your child clears up after themselves before they leave.

Our youth group for home educated tweens and teens. This group is aimed at ages 11+.

November 26th - Silly Beetle Drive . This is a really fun game to play as a group. Each participant needs to bring three small ‘presents’ that are wrapped up. These could be anything and don’t need to be bought new (though nothing horrible please!). Throughout the game children will swap presents and end up with different ones to those that they brought. Please note - some children will end up with more than three presents and some less, but we will make sure that no one leaves empty handed.

We will be asking everyone to help with tidy up for the last ten minutes.

This group will usually be £5 per person but may change occasionally depending on the activity offered.

If they have an old t-shirt bring that along and they can make a t-shirt tote bag! If you have fabric scissors please bring those too as we have a limited amount.

June 4th - Silly Beetle Drive. This is a really fun game to pay as a group.

June 17th - Fish & Chip shop walk. We will take a short walk ending at a fish and chip shop to order our tea, before returning to The Place Stamford. Home Education Day - Monday

This half term is 6 weeks long apart from Science which is 5 weeks starting on 26th February.

GCSE Science has already been paid for.

Science

GCSE Science, 9:30 - 10:15 then 11 - 11:15

Our GCSE science course is taught by Natalie. Children will be taught for 45mins, then have 45 minutes to carry on their work while Natalie teaches the younger groups, followed by 15mins with Natalie to go over any issues that have arisen. She will be continuing to cover the IGCSE dual award science syllabus over four terms. She will also be setting and marking weekly homework - it is expected that children will need to work for an hour each week outside of lessons.

This term children will be learning the Physics content. Last year they worked on the Biology and Chemistry content. Due to the way the course is being taught it is suitable for children who want to complete the dual award science IGCSE (those who weren’t with us last term would need to self-study the biology and chemistry content) or one or more separate science IGCSE subjects (although this will need further teaching for the extra content after this course has finished).

Please note - if you wish your child to sit a GCSE exam you will need to organise this yourself.

The block price includes a workbook that will be used throughout the term.

Pre-GCSE Science - £6 per session, 10:15am - 11am

This is a 45 minute science session run by science teacher Natalie. In this group children will be covering KS3 and some KS4 science subjects with a view to preparing them to start GCSE science study from September 2024 or later. Homework will usually be set each week.

How we split that will depend on the children taking part and whether they want to study foundation or higher. New students are welcome to join this course. Please contact is for information on which areas we have already covered and what book you need to purchase.

Monday’s art sessions are with The Place Stamford staff. There are two sessions, timed to fit in with the other sessions of the day. Generally the younger group is up to age 10 and the older group ages 10+. Children will use a variety of different art techniques and mediums and we will try and plan activities around the children’s interests and needs. The older art group will be split in two two groups. This will allow some of the children to go in to greater depth with their art studies while others continue to work on a variety of medium and projects. Katie and Lisa will decide how these groups are split - please get in touch if you need any further information.

Lunch

There is time for lunch 12pm - 12:45pm or 12:30pm - 1:15pm depending on lessons taken. We will keep the workshop room free for this. Please ask your children to tidy all their lunch things away and pick up any dropped food etc.

Art, £5pw, Younger 11:45am - 12:30pm, Older 2:15pm - 3:15pm

General info

Full day discount - we have added a small discount for children that come for the day. There are three options for younger, older or those taking the GCSE lessons. If you need a different combination of lessons please let us know.

Children are welcome to stay between sessions and play in our rooms - we have a wide selection of games and toys, or of course they are welcome to bring their own activities. You are usually welcome to leave children with us during their lessons so long as you remain contactable - we will ask you to come in or to stay if your child needs you, or you are welcome to stay onsite with your child. We do ask that you are on site with your child between lessons and take responsibility for ensuring that your child gets to their lessons, (unless by prior agreement). We have a very busy day with lots of families taking part so the teachers and shop staff are not able to take responsibility for other children. We also ask that you ensure that your child has tidied up after themselves before leaving.

For new families and students we have a guidance and expectations sheet that we will ask you and your child to agree to when you first join us.

Home Education Day - Monday

This half term is 7 weeks long. Maths and statistics are running for 6 weeks as Katie is away on 4th December so maths wont be running that day.

Science (pre-paid for the term)

GCSE Science, £12 per session, 9:30 - 10:15 then 11 - 11:15

If you would like to join this group please get in touch.

This term children will be learning the Chemistry content and during the spring 23/24 term the Physics content. Last year they worked on the Biology content. The summer 23/24 term will then be spent revising the three subjects. Due to the way the course is being taught it is suitable for children who want to complete the dual award science IGCSE (those who werent with us last term would need to self-study the biology content) or one or more separate science IGCSE subjects (although this will need further teaching for the extra content after this course has finished).

Please note - if you wish your child to sit a GCSE exam you will need to organise this yourself. For more information and for weekly updates on homework etc please join our ‘Science HE @ The Place Stamford’ facebook group.

The block price includes a workbook that will be used throughout the term.

Pre-GCSE Science - £6 per session, 10:15am - 11am
